Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation Launched a Nationwide Programme Swachh Survekshan Grameen in Different Parts of Assam

KALAIGAON, Aug 1: The Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has launched a nationwide programme titled Swachh Survekshan Grameen, 2018 (SSG-18) for assessment on the basis of qualitative and quantitative sanitation parameters across all the districts in India from August 1 to August 31. To commemorate the SSG-18, Udalguri District Water and Sanitation Committee launched the SSG-18 on July 31 at Bishnu Rabha Krishti Sangha, Udalguri. BTC EM, PHED, Lwmshrao Daimari inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his speech, he encouraged other line departments present in the programme to join hands in making the district clean as well as ODF district. To mark the launch of SSG-18, an awareness rally was also conducted in Udalguri town by the officials and participants, which was inaugurated by Nameswar Tayung, Nodal Officer, SBM (G).

Dibrugarh: Swachh Survekshan Gramin, 2018, a nationwide initiative of the Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, was launched recently in Dibrugarh district too. The exercise, which is a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), encourages villages to promote sanitation and cleanliness by infusing a spirit of competition among them.

Speaking at the event held under the aegis of the District Administration and District Drinking Water and Sanitation Committee, DC, Laya Madduri said that the time had come to work on creating a healthy and clean environment in the rural areas, besides turning them open-defecation free. She urged the people to drop the habit of littering, and also highlighted the significance of giving up the use of plastic items, segregating waste at source, and scientific treatment of the waste for keeping the villages and tea garden areas beautiful and pristine. The other dignitaries to have graced the event included District Development Commissioner Jadhav Saikia, ADC Dibakar Nath and others.

TANGLA: To commemorate the SSG-18 Udalguri District Water and Sanitation Committee formally launched the SSG-18 on at Bishnu Rabha Krishti Sangha, Udalguri on Tuesday. BTC EM of PHED Lwmshrao Daimari inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his speech, he encouraged the other departments to join hands together in making the district clean as well as Open Defecation Free (ODF) district. The programme was also participated by BTC speaker Tridip Daimari, Tangla PHE Executive Engineer Pranab Goswami, SBM staff, Swachhagrahis, Aanganwadi supervisors, NGOs and SHGs. The programme also witnessed activities like drama and songs on encouraging people for cleanliness. To mark the launch of SSG-18, an awareness rally was also conducted in Udalguri town by the officials and participants which was inaugurated by Nodal Officer, SBM(G), Nameswar Tayung.
