Miscreants withdraw Rs 2.5 lakh from the SBI bank account of Sivasagar lady

GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevailed at Gaurisagar when unidentified miscreants withdrawn an amount of Rs 2.50 lakh from the SBI bank account of Labannya Saikia, wife of Purna Saikia, a resident of Dikhowmukh Ujani Bharalua village under Gaurisagar police station in Sivasagar district.

According to report, on July 17, Purna Saikia withdrew Rs. 20,000 from the SBI ATM located at Rongghar Chariali from his wife’s account of SBI Gaurisagar Branch. After withdrawal, the remaining balance was Rs 2,50,390. When Purna Saikia was withdrawing the money, two other persons were in the ATM. They also talked to him. On July 21 when Purna Saikia went to SBI Gaurisagar Branch to withdraw cash from the same account, he was shocked when he swiped the ATM card and found the message of insufficient balance. After updating the passbook, it was found that on July 18, miscreants transferred Rs.40,000 from the account of Labannya Saikia to the account of Kavita Sonar of Mon district of Nagaland. On the same day, Rs.40,000 was also transferred to Shew Prasad Petrol Pump. The next day, Rs 40,000 was transferred to Nakul Chandra Deka of Barpeta and cash Rs.40,000 was withdrawn from Guwahati Anand Nagar FC Road ATM. More money was transferred to other accounts on subsequent days.

Labannya Saikia has submitted a written complaint at SBI, Gaurisagar Branch Manager. Besides, an FIR was lodged at Gaurisagar Police Station to nab the miscreants. A case no 109/2019 has been registered and police investigation is on. It has been alleged that customers have become victims after withdrawing money from the SBI Ronghar Chariali ATM.
