Move to close Demow Town High School opposed
The Demow Town High School, which is situated in Demow Raichai, celebrated its golden jubilee year 2022-23 last month.

DEMOW: The Demow Town High School, which is situated in Demow Raichai, celebrated its golden jubilee year 2022-23 last month. A public meeting was held in the school premises recently regarding the news that the Demow Town High School would be closed and in its place an English medium school will come up.
Regarding this a public meeting was organized in the school premises on December 18. Suneswar Deori, president of the Management and Development Committee of Demow Town High School, presided over the public meeting. Bharat Sarma, in-charge Headmaster of Demow Town High School, spoke about the aims of the public meeting. The school authority alleged that Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain had sent a proposal to the State Education Department regarding closing down of Demow Town High School, an Assamese medium-school, and in its place an English medium School would be established.
Local people, representatives of different local organizations of Demow and guardians were present in the public meeting. They strongly opposed the proposals sent by the Thowra MLA to the State Education Department. According to sources, an amalgamation issue of the Demow Town High School has also come up. In the public meeting, Dr Diganta Gogoi, Professor in Nitaipukhuri HCDG College, Ajay Kumar Gogoi, Professor in Moran Women College, representatives of different local organizations of Demow, local People, guardians along with other dignitaries were present.
