Needless to say, the brutal lynching case of Dokmoka had left the entire state shaken.

Before this, as per the decision of the Assam government, the Gauhati High Court had ordered for a transfer of the case from Diphu Session Court to Nagaon District Court. Following this order, a charge sheet of 844 pages was filed against the accused after almost 75 days of the incident.
