‘Need to focus on glorious history of Kaibartas’, says noted writer and historian Sutram Das in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: To develop an intellectual and cultural atmosphere along preserving the glorious history of the Kaibarta community, an organization named Kairbata Sahitya aru Sankriti Sabha, Asom was formed in Golaghat on Sunday.

In this regard, a public meeting was held at the Golaghat Municipality Board campus in the Lakhminath Bezbaruah auditorium hall. The meeting was presided over by the noted writer and historian Sutram Das and the aim and purposes were elaborated by student leader Paramananda Das.

In the meeting, a committee was formed in connection with Dr. Prafulla Hazarika as chief adviser, Sutram Das as president, Tilak Chandra Das as working president and Jitul Das as secretary. Taking part in the programme, the general secretary of All Assam Scheduled Caste Students’ Union, Paramananda Das said, “Kaibartas are sons of the land of Assam. There is a glorious history of Kaibartas in Assam. At present this glorious history has to be recovered. The intellectuals should take a special role in focusing on its hidden history.” Earlier, a seminar was also held under the supervision of Dr. Prafulla Hazarika.
