GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the new SOP will be finalized today, July 18 and it will be implemented from Thursday.

"The new SOP will be finalized today but it will be in force from Thursday," said Dr. Sarma.

As per sources, Authorities may relax curfew timings in districts where the COVID-19 situation is witnessing improvement.

Meanwhile, Assam reported 23 more Covid19 deaths and 1,727 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta in a tweet on Saturday said the new cases were confirmed out of 1,33,760 tests.

The state's Covid19 recovery rate stood at 95.65% on Saturday.

"Summary of 17/7/2021 – Today's Total 1727; Overall Positivity Percentage (1727 cases out of 1,33,760 test done = 1.29%); Kamrup (M) 250; Death 23; Recovery Rate 95.65%," health minister Mahanta tweeted on Saturday.

The state's overall positivity percentage on Saturday stood at 1.29%. Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro registered 250 cases.
