Dibrugarh: The members of All Dibrugarh District Students’ Union recently submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam through the DC regarding the repair of the NH-37 and its subsidiary roads which were lying in a poor state in the district. In a press release of the organisation, the members underscored the pathetic condition of the roads, besides taking a sharp dig at the National Highway Authority of India for shirking its duties despite being directed by CM, Sarbananda Sonowal to get the highway repaired within the next 30 hours of the incident when the wide and deep potholes in Chaulkhowa forced Sonowal to step down from his convoy and issue an immediate order.

Highlighting the time-gap between the issuance of the order and its non-implementation till now, the members held the act to be an acute case of disobedience to a government mandate. The members also underlined the significance of the Dibrugarh district in the overall economy of Assam, and as such, demanded a solution within 15 days of the memorandum’s submission. In case the government failed to address the problem within the stipulated time, the members declared to step up their protests.
