DIBRUGARH: There will be no tazia procession this year in the district keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in view.

Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, while talking to The Sentinel, said that the meeting with tazia committees, held at the DC's conference room on Wednesday, unanimously resolved that tazia procession would not be brought out in the district keeping the prevailing pandemic situation in mind. However, the ritual to carry soil to Graham Bazar burial ground will be performed by carrying the same in vehicle with limited people. The committee should take prior permission from the circle officer/officer in-charge of Dibrugarh police station by registering their vehicle numbers and names and addresses of the persons who are likely to accompany the tazia.

DC Jha called upon all to adhere strictly to COVID protocol while performing religious ritual during Muharram.
