Noted educationist and former DEEO Phani Dutta of Sivasagar no more

GAURISAGAR: Phani Dutta, an inhabitant of Dikowmukh Gayan gaon in Sivasagar district passed away on Tuesday at his Milan Nagar residence in Dibrugarh due to old age ailments. He was 90. He did his primary education from Khanamukh MV School. Later he joined Sibsagar Government HS & MP school. After passing HSLC examination he joined IA in JB college, Jorhat. He got his BA degree with 1st class first from JB college, Jorhat. He was the first BA and BT degree holder in entire Dikhowmukh area. He served as an assistant teacher at Sivasagar Lakshminath Bezbaruah HS school, Dibrugarh Government HS school. By dint of his talent he served as education officers in various districts of Assam and got superannuation as District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO), Tinsukia. He was associated with various social and cultural organizations and honoured by all sections of people for his amicable behaviour. He served as the president of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Dibrugarh district many times. His demise is widely mourned in his native village Dikhowmukh and Dibrugarh. His body was cremated in Dibrugarh Chowkiding cremation ground in presence of huge followers and well-wishers. He is survived by his wife, one son and a host of relatives.
