Dibrugarh: While the celebrations for Diwali went as usual, Navaa-e-Aman (Voice of Peace) – an association aimed at fostering peace and happiness in the society – distributed school bags, blankets, stationeries, sweets and fruits among the children of Prerona Children Home (PCH), Dibrugarh on Sunday.

Besides distributing the essentials, the children were shown some informative videos and were accordingly imparted certain life lessons. The children home, regulated by the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, houses around 50 children from all backgrounds.

Jyostna Sonowal, Principal of PCH, said, “These gestures do a world of good to these children, but they are in need of much more attention and support. We have to make sure that once they attain the age of 18 and go out, they are ready to face the world.”

Preeti Debnath, an English teacher and a member of Navaa-e-Aman, expressed her utmost happiness for being able to be of some help to those children, and termed this Diwali as her best Diwali ever. She, besides thanking everyone who voluntarily supported the initiative through their contributions, added that the association was planning to take up similar activities in the ensuing days too.
