BONGAIGAON: A one-day refresher course on COVID-19 pandemic was held under the aegis of District Health Society, NHM, Chirang at three different venues in the district on Thursday. The course, which started at 10 am in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office, was inaugurated by Dr. Ratul Chandra Bordoloi, Joint Director, Health Services, Chirang and participated by District Surveillance Officer, Epidemologist of IDSP, Superintendent of JSB Civil Hospital, including some medical officers and GNMs.

As such, the training for second and third batches for MPWs, lab technicians, MMU, ASHA, Supervisors ANMs and SC/HI was held here in the DC's conference hall and Bodoland Guest house respectively.

Dr. Swapna D. Kakati, Associate Professor, Community Medicine, Dr. Giridhar Pathak, Associate Professor, Community Medicine, Dr. Bidhyut Datta, Associate Professor, Pathology and Dr. Apurba Rabha, Registrar, all from Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta, graced the programme as resource persons and imparted training on updated contact tracing strategy, testing guidelines, quarantine guidelines, universal precautions, donning and doffing of PPE, waste disposal, standard protocol for management in isolation/ICU, human resource management etc. through power point presentation.

The refresher training is given to all the medical officers, including paramedics and other staff engaged in treatment, patient care, transportation, cleaning, supply, stores and food in order to upgrade their skills and to disseminate the latest information available at regular intervals as per the SOP of the Health and Family Welfare department, Assam. Altogether 168 health service providers of the district participated in the programme.
