One more COVID-19 positive death in Darrang district

MANGALDAI: COVID-19 has claimed one more life in Darrang district. A 65-year old woman, Jonaki Deka of village Bar Athiabari (Kabikara) of Dahi Mouza under Mangaldai Revenue Circle, was admitted in Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) as she was suffering from Japanese Encephalitis and was released on July 17.

Since then she was undergoing treatment at home. Unfortunately, she breathed her last at 8.45 pm on July 23 and on Friday morning she was detected as COVID- 19 positive in a test done after her demise. Her son Bhabesh Deka has also been tested positive while the daughter-in- law tested negative. The funeral was performed in the village crematorium as per COVID-19 protocol in presence of the Circle Officer of Mangaldai Revenue Circle. Significantly, a number of villagers also extended full cooperation in the funeral. She is the third COVID-19 casualty in the district.
