People of Biswanath urged to use cVIGIL mobile app

BISWANATH CHARIALI: If the common people come across any violation of expenditure or Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by political parties or candidates during this election, they can immediately intimate the surveillance teams through cVIGIL mobile app.
Making an appeal to the people of Biswanath, Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah said that every citizen was as powerful as the administration in ensuring that political parties and candidates abide by the guidelines of the Election Commission. The only thing people need is to download the Election Commission's cVIGIL app. cVIGIL, which stands for Vigilant Citizen, empowers citizens to click a photo or video using their smartphone in case they witness any violation of MCC or expenditure. The app is based on Geographic Information System (GIF) technology and the unique feature of auto location helps Flying Squads to navigate to the right spot of incidence and take prompt action. The administration has already formed 7 Flying Squads, in addition to 13 Static Surveillance Teams, to keep surveillance on flow of illegal cash and liquor in the district. These teams are working 24 hours on the ground and will immediately attend to the complaints registered by common masses through the cVIGIL app.
Furthermore, all the complaints of citizens will be addressed by authorities concerned within 100 minutes of registration. Some of the complaints that citizens can register through the cVIGIL app are fake news, distribution of cash and liquor to lure voters, threat, display of arms and ammunitions, discrimination on religious or caste grounds.
