Picnic Group Attacked In Assam's Barpeta District

Barpeta: A mob around of 20 people attacked a picnic group in the Barpeta district of Assam late on Monday evening.

According to reports, the mob allegedly stopped a bus that was carrying a picnic group and attacked them.

The incident occurred at a place known as Luphuria in Barpeta district and the miscreants were from the nearby village of Sintolu.

Following the attack, a few people from the picnic group have reportedly sustained injuries.

An FIR has been registered in this regard at the Barpets Sadar police station in connection with the incident.

Notably, in December last year, there was also an incident where picnickers attacked two forest guards in Nagaon's Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary area.

The incident took place when these two forest guards named Jahirul Islam and Pappu Patar tried to intervene in picnicker's fight, who were fighting among themselves after being drunk.

Following this, a few drunken youths attacked the forest officials and left them injured.

"We tried to interrupt them from creating a law and order situation as a lot of people were getting involved in the fight," said one of the forest guards.
