LAKHIMPUR: The 27th National Science Congress of Lakhimpur district unit was successfully organized with a day-long programme on Saturday in Ghilamora Higher Secondary School under Dhkuakhana subdivision.

The agenda of the event, which was held under the aegis of Lakhimpur District Children Science Academy, kicked off with a massive plantation drive, followed by unfurling of flag in the morning. The open session was inaugurated by the National Children Science Congress co-ordinator Dr. Nikhil Hazarika by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Celebration committee president Kabita Hazarika delivered the welcome address. Then child scientist Parag Borah, who participated in the national-level Children Science Congress held in Bhubaneswar last year representing the State team from Lakhimpur, elaborated his experience. In his lecture, he elaborated how the children scientists of the nation presented their projects in the event and called upon the students to be devoted to science.

Environmental activist Debojit Phukan graced the occasion as appointed speaker. “The foundation of science is established on the answers of what, how and why. Our children and students can realize the basic principle of science when they are able to analyse the things with these three queries. The impact of poverty is still the root cause of non-scientific view in a society,” he said.

Lakhimpur ADC-cum-SDO of Dhakuakhana, Arindam Baruah took part in the programme as chief guest and encouraged the children scientists to have an inventive mind. “The basic need for generating scientific views is the possession of an inquisitive mind. The students, to excel in the subject, must have a clear concept on what they want to do,” he stated.

A galaxy of children scientists from various parts of the district presented their models in the event. Out of them, Smriti Chamua and Rakhipriya Baruah of Dhakuakhana HS School, Kartik Lagasu and Krishna Kanta Doley of Ideal Mission School, Tridib Tushar Bhuyan, Pradumnya Borah, Jubli Saikia and Pallab Pratim Bhuyan of Pichala National Academy, Licha Gogoi and Jahnabi Burhagohain of Ghilamora Model HS School, Ashish Hazarika, Raktim Borah, Debangaraj Dutta and Amlan Goswami of Narayanpur Orient Academy and Himashree Borah of Nabarupa Maina Parijat have been selected from the district for participating in the State-level National Science Congress to be held in Tinsukia.
