Preparation to celebrate Republic Day gains momentum in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district has completed almost all preparations to celebrate the forthcoming 71st Republic Day of the nation on Sunday. In this regard, the security measures of the district have been tightened in order to avert any kind of untoward incidents possible to be caused by unscrupulous elements or insurgent groups.

The Lakhimpur district will celebrate the festive event in a befitting manner at North Lakhimpur Boys Government HS School playground. The agenda of the event will kick off at 5.30am with the playing of patriotic song. It will be followed by unfurling of the National Flag at individual residences, social institutions, in government, semi-government, non-government offices and educational institutions of the district. Then the students and teachers of the educational institutions, coming in possession, will assemble at the designated parade ground at North Lakhimpur Boys’ Govt. HS School playground where the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag will be administered by an appointed chief guest at 9am as a part of the celebration of the event organized by the district administration. It will be preceded by the garlanding of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi by the chief guest. Then the chief guest will take the guard of honour in the parade ground from various marching troops constituted by police personnel, NCC cadets and students. It will be followed by cultural function to be performed by students and various cultural groups on the occasion. Fruits and light food items will also be distributed among the patients of North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital and inmates of the district jail.

On the other hand, the event will be celebrated by Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration of the district at the public playground of the subdivision. For the smooth conduct of all the designated programmes of the event, the subdivisional administration has made all kinds of preparation and arrangements. As per information found from Dhakuakhana SDO Arindam Baruah, security measures has been tightened across the subdivision too on the occasion and security forces are alerted to remain vigilant to check any untoward happenings on or before the day.
