Preparations on for 37th Betna Rongali Bihu with a three- day long colourful programme

GORESWAR: The 37th annual Betna Anchalik Rongali Bihu will be held at the Betna High School playground with a three- day long colourful programme from April 29 in collaboration with Betna Arunaday Sangha.

On April 29, Satyanath Deka will hoist the flag of Betna Arunaday Sangha while Ganapati Deka will hoist the Bihu flag. Bhumidhar Deka will perform the smriti tarpan programme and the tree plantation will be done by Mahendra Bora and others. Ghanashyam Deka will inaugurate the games and sports competitions and Suren Chandra Boro will inaugurate the Super Star competition.

On April 30, a race will be inaugurated by Mun Boro and the Hari Charan Deka Memorial Bihu Stage will be inaugurated by Maheswar Basumatary, EM of BTC. Dhananjay Basumatary, chairman of Goreswar Municipal Board, will light the earthen lamp in the evening.

On May 1, the prize distribution programme will be inaugurated by retired teacher Amindra Nath. A felicitation programme of senior citizens of the area will also be held on the occasion. The cultural stage will be inaugurated by the minister and local MLA Bhabesh Kalita. In this connection, a strong reception committee has been formed with Dayal Krishna Deka as president and Kamalakanta Swargiary as general secretary.
