Preparatory & review meeting held for observance of Republic Day in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: A preparatory meeting was held in connection with the upcoming Republic Day function. Presiding over the meeting convened at Deputy Commissioner's conference hall here on Monday, District Development Commissioner, Ranajeet Kumar Laskar called upon the heads of all departments to work in tandem for smooth and successful observance of the upcoming Republic Day celebration at the NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose Stadium in a befitting manner.

Laskar said the administration will wait for directions from the State government regarding observance of cultural programmes in view of the COVID-19 protocols. He instructed SDO (Sadar) JyotirmoyDaimary to coordinate with the departments in connection with display of tableaux. Laskar asked the PWD and Police officials to prepare the main ground well in advance.

Laskar asked the APDCL and PWD (Electrical) to provide power connection at the stadium in view of dress rehearsal from today. In this connection, the DDC asked the Executive Engineer, PHED to provide water supply from January 20 onwards.

The DDC instructed the district heads to keep their offices and surroundings neat and clean. He asked those departments, goanpanchayat offices and schools not having signboards for proper display of standard signboard.

Laskar asked District Information and Public Relations Officer to inspect the fixed loud speaker line in Hailakandi municipal areas to ensure that they are working properly. Awarding best sub centre, SHG, best Anganwadicentre, cleanest office, best farmer, etc also figured in the meeting and a committee constituted for proper evaluation and assessment.

The meeting decided not to hold screening of film for children in view of the COVID protocol in force. DDC Laskar informed the heads of various departments that another review meeting will be held after the MaghBihu for fine tuning of the preparedness for the Republic Day celebration. Earlier, SDO (Sadar), JyotirmoyDaimary read out the minutes of the last Republic Day meeting following which the meeting discussed threadbare the agenda point by point. Besides the heads of departments, the meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners RK Dam, HR Mazumdar and DeepmalaGoala and Additional SP, KN Deka.
