Programme on capacity building held in Nagaon

NAGAON: The NSS unit of Khagarijan College, Nagaon organized the NSS orientation programme on Wednesday at the college premises. The programme was initiated by the NSS programme officer of the NSS unit of the college Mainul Hoque Akanda in association with the NSS Cell, Gauhati University, Guwahati.

Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director, Students' Welfare & programme coordinator, NSS Cell, Gauhati University was present as the resource person in the programme and delivered valued database lecture about the role and potential of the NSS unit and its future probabilities.

In his speech, Dr Kakoti highlighted about the evolution of NSS from being a peripheral initiative to become one of the integral pillars of the development of the youth and the society as a whole. NSS has the potential to work at the very grassroot of the society and can be led by the youth themselves which is a powerful strategy of community development as well as capacity building of youth, he said.

NSS is the way with highest potential to become an essential part of governance for development, he asserted further in his speech. He also laid emphasize on the adopted villages and the role of women forum of the college in taking up various measures to ensure hygiene and a healthy lifestyle for the women population in the village.

Apart from this, he extended his full support to the initiatives of the NSS Unit of Khagarijan College, encouraging them to lead the efforts for the best. Besides, following the orientation programme, a capacity building programme on academic and administrative audit was also organized by IQAC Khagarijan College, in which Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, HoD, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University and Member of NAAC Monitoring Committee, Government of Assam was present as resource person. In his speech, professor Kalita elaborated on various aspects of academic and administrative audit. He laid stress on the need for capacity building to lay a strong foundation of the institution. The 3 C's Courage, Commitment and Capacity are essential for the success of an institution in creating productive human resources for the society as well as the country as a whole, he added.
