Prohibitory orders imposed in Chirang

Kokrajhar: The District Magistrate of Chirang, Gautam Talukdar has imposed prohibitory order under Section 144 Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on Monday banning Mashal processions in the district following protests by activists against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in different parts of the State.

This prohibitory order, which was issued by the District Magistrate to maintain peace and public order and to safeguard the lives and properties of the citizens, had come into effect since December 9 and will remain in force until further order.
