Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC promulgated in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan has issued prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC, in order to avert unprecedented accidents and to maintain public peace, tranquillity and safety of human life in the district in consideration of the Christmas, upcoming New Year's Eve and Magh Bihu. Through the order, issued vide No. LMG.3/2019/140, the District Magistrate has prohibited storing of all forms of building materials, construction materials on road and roadside, reserved land throughout the Lakhimpur district. The order has also prohibited the storing of all forms of building materials, construction materials on government land throughout the district.
It has been observed that stockpile of construction materials are being stored on PWD roads of the district by some people creating inconveniences to public, thereby making the road and roadside areas prone to accidents. Such unlawful activities has also led to several accidents leading to loss of life of number of commuters. The prohibitory order, which has been promulgated in order to check these unlawful activities, has come into force across the district with immediate effect and will remain in force until further order is served. Any violation of this order will be prosecuted under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code.
