Protest Against ‘Attack’ on Demow College Student

DEMOW: An incident took place on August 14 in which a woman allegedly hit a girl studying in Demow College in Demow Chariali. As a result, the girl was seriously injured.

According to sources, the girl is a BA student of Demow College and on August 14, while the girl was coming from college, suddenly a woman allegedly attacked her due to which she was seriously injured. Her friends immediately took her to Demow Model Hospital. Due to heavy bleeding, she was sent to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for better treatment.

The Demow College Students’ Union along with AASU, ATASU, AASAA, ATTSA, BAYM and local organizations of Demow blocked the NH-37 road on Friday in protest against the incident and to demand the accused woman’s arrest.

As per reports, a girl student of Demow College visited a studio for an online registration work when she reportedly got involved in a heated argument with a lady which turned violent. Later, the girl student was allegedly attacked by the lady and ran away from the spot. The girl student was immediately shifted to Demow Civil Hospital for better medication.

Looking after the tensed situation, police officials of Demow Police station on Wednesday assured the student originations for a speedy investigation and arrest of the culprit within the next 24 hours. Things turned ugly after the police department failed to apprehend the suspected culprit leading to a massive road blocked on Friday afternoon leading to traffic congestion for at least 2 hours.
