DOOMDOOMA: In the backdrop of the much discussed question of existence of public educational institutions and degradation of the dignity of teachers, the measure taken by the State Government on February 5 to provincialize some of the posts of such teachers of non-provincialized educational institutions under the category of 'tutor' attached to their respective 'base schools' is a positive step. This was stated by president Pradip Kumar Moran, working president Atul Bora and joint secretaries Charitra Gogoi and Moinul Haque of Assam Opradeshikrita Sikshanusthan Surakhya Mancha in a statement to the press.

However, they felt that some imprudent decisions of the education department, not based on the provisions of the Provincialization Act, gave rise to the development of an unhealthy environment. So the State Government should take steps for provincialization of the posts of such teachers in their original educational institutions along with the fourth grade employees before the situation deteriorates further.

The Surkhya Mancha thanked the teachers, guardians and conscious section of the public for their whole-hearted support in protecting the existence of the schools established by the people 25-30 years before and hoped that similar cooperation would be forthcoming in future also.
