‘Publish Pare project details’ : ACYA to Assam Government

LAKHIMPUR: At a time when release of excess water from the Dayang Hydro Electric Project dam of the NEEPCO has caused massive devastation in Golaghat district and the release of the same by Ranganadi Hydro Electric Plant dam has caused loss of several lives in Lakhimpur in the past years, the Pare Hydro Electric Project same power generating company built on river Dikrong has silently started generating electricity in July causing threat to Lakhimpur district from another direction.

The said Hydro Electric Project is situated in Papumpare district of Arunachal Pradesh just a few kilometres away from Lakhimpur district. But strangely enough, the Lakhimpur district administration has no information about the river dam project.

In this regard, the Anti Corruption Youth, Assam (ACYA) has become vocal against the district administration and the State Government at a press meet held in North Lakhimpur Press Club on Friday. The State president of ACYA Dharma Kanta Gogoi demanded of the State Government and the Lakhimpur district administration to publish details about the Pare HE Project which may inevitably cause havoc in areas like Harmutty, Bihpuriya, to name a few. Significantly, NEEPCO is known for arrogantly releasing excess water from its dams to the peril of the citizens of nearby areas.
