Former Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta opposed the Raha Toll Gate

GOLAGHAT, July 25: Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta expressed his views on the Raha Toll Gate while coming to attend the convention of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Parishad held at District Library, Golaghat on Wednesday as a chief guest.

Talking to media persons, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta opposed the Raha Toll Gate and said that the NHAI should open the toll gate after completion of construction of four-lane highway in Assam. Besides, there is a guidelines of the Surface Transport Ministry that toll gate should be opened on the roads where more than 10,000 vehicles pass per day. But in Raha less than 5,000 vehicles pass.

On the issue of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, he said that the government should detain the illegal immigrants on the basis of the Assam Accord. Likewise, the government should also provide an error-free NRC.
