Review meeting held on COVID-19 vaccination in tea garden areas

Tezpur: A meeting to review the COVID-19 vaccination status in tea garden areas of Sonitpur district, convened by Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of Plantations, was held on Friday at the conference hall of the ALC office, Tezpur with the tea garden doctors and welfare officers of Sonitpur district.

The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Banti Talukdar, in presence of Secretary of TAI and ABITA, senior journalist Dip Kumar Kalita, along with other health department officials.

ADC, Banti Talukdar expressed her thankfulness to medical officesr for their cooperation to control COVID and other-vector borne diseases like Japanese Encephalitis. She also informed that the district administration was ready to provide all support for door-to-door survey for vaccination and awareness in the tea estates. She also directed all garden management to create extensive mass awareness in order to make the vaccination drive successful.

During the meeting, MIP Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar requested all the doctors and welfare officers to take initiative to fulfill the target of COVID vaccination of the first dose and to find out the people who have been left out. He urged the tea garden association ABITA and TAI who were present in the meeting to cooperate with the district health department to cover the entire eligible population of tea gardens for COVID vaccination. Dr Lahkar requested all garden managers through association to give all support to garden doctors to take all initiatives for COVID vaccination and to submit reports to the department concerned regularly.
