HAILAKANDI: As a token of appreciation for the relentless battle against COVID-19 and in recognition of selfless service rendered as Corona warriors, the Rotary Club of Hailakandi handed over certificate of gratitude to government departments, organizations and agencies involved in it.

The Rotary Club handed over the certificate of gratitude to the corona warriors such as police, health, District Information and Public Relations, Social Welfare, District Disaster Management Authority, Education, Fire and Emergency Service personnel, municipal workers and media persons of Press Club of Hailakandi.

President of Rotary Club of Hailakandi, Shankar Choudhury who recently took over the charge for the year 2020-2021, said, "The certificate of gratitude is a recognition to the COVID-19 warriors who stood in the path of destruction and waged a relentless battle against the dreaded virus putting their lives at peril to bring new hope for mankind. The services rendered by the Corona warriors are above self personified. We salute their selfless service."

Maintaining the COVID-19 guidelines, the 16th installation ceremony was held in a solemn manner and kept confined within the members. Tridibesh Chakrabarty took over the charge of secretary. In the installation ceremony held at the club premises on Wednesday, eight new members were inducted.

The day kicked off with plantation of saplings by the Rotarians under the Shyamolima project at SS College premises followed by a note of appreciation towards the frontline COVID-19 warriors who are working day in and day out during the trying times.

The annual souvenir of the club 'Sankalpa' was also released on the occasion with editor Bijoyini Bhattacharjee conveying her heartfelt thanks to all the members for pitching in all their efforts for bringing out the souvenir on time. Two doctor-members of the club were also felicitated on the occasion of Doctors' Day. Former Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. PK Mazumder was the chief guest while past president of the club, Pritikona Paul was the guest of honour. Outgoing president, Samiran Paul and secretary Debasish Guha Thakurata, who passed on the baton to the new leadership, were also present.
