NUMALIGARH: The newly-elected MLA of Sarupathar constituency, Biswajit Phukan has been seen actively taking part in various issues of the constituency. Just after winning the elections, MLA Phukan is out in the field to monitor and supervise the anti-COVID measures in various regions of the constituency.

Phukan also provided food essentials to more than 400 families residing in the containment zones. As per the election agenda, MLA Phukan also started construction of roads recently. A length of 200 KM of main road will be constructed in the first phase. MLA Phukan has been holding meetings with various government department officials of Sarupathar constituency during the last week.

On Monday, MLA Phukan held an important meeting with the senior officials of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. NRL authority was approached and asked by MLA Phukan for taking part in the socio-economic development of Sarupathar constituency. From NRL, Director (T) , Bhaskarjyoti Phukan, General Manager (HR) , Kajal Saikia, CEO (ABRPL), Anup Baruah, and DGM (PR) Mintu Kr. Handique took part in the meeting with Phukan.

In the meeting, MLA Phukan demanded employment for local unemployed youths of the region. He also asked for aid from NRL for establishing an I.T.I. in Morangi. This proposed I.T.I. will provide direct and indirect employability opportunities in NRL for the local youths. MLA Phukan also asked NRL to extend their hand for construction of a stadium in Morangi, establishment of higher-educational institutes in Sarupathar, Borpathar and Morangi. MLA Phukan also urged the NRL authority for construction of a memorial in memory of the sapta-swahid (seven martyrs) in Ponka Gaon.

The NRL authority assured MLA Phukan that they would actively take part in the all-round development of Sarupathar constituency in the coming days.
