TEZPUR: Satsang Ashram, Deoghar in Jharkhand has bagged the first prize under the 'Best Religious Socio Cultural organization for successful campus usage Water Conservation' category under National Water Awards 2019, presented by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in the two-day awards distribution ceremony held on November 11 and November 12 through a virtual platform.

The award distribution ceremony was inaugurated by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria, Ministry of Jal Shakti, UP Singh and other officials. On behalf of the Satsang, Deoghar, the president, Alok Kumar Chakraborty received the prize in the National Water Awards.

The ministry confers the award based on various parameters, including performance in roof top rain water harvesting and status of implementation of water accounting and auditing.
