Senior officials visit Bongaigaon

Bongaigaon, June 6: A team of senior government officers led by Chief Secretery TY Das and comprising of Alok Kumar, Addl CS Home, Kuladhar Saikia, DGP, Assam, Pallab Bhattacharyya, Spl DGP SB, Assam and Mukesh Agarwal, ADGP Law and Order visited Bongaigaon district on Wednesday and took stock of the law and order situation of the districts of Bongaigaon, Chirang, Goalpara and Kokrajhar in the run up to the publication of next draft of NRC. The DCs, SPs and senior officers of police, army engaged in the districts took part in the discussion. The various issues related to NRC updating process were discussed. The importance of constant interaction with people of all walks of life to allay any apprehension of public, the facility available to all in respect of claims and objections for which an exhaustive awareness programme is being launched, and other relevant issues were highlighted. This is the first meeting by the high powered team which will also visit all the districts of Assam in the near future before publication of draft NRC.
