Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya celebrates 76th foundation day in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Every year, July 25 is celebrated as the foundation day of Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya. On this day in the year 1945, the Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, earlier known as Seujia Samaj Sangeet Vidyalaya, was established, and later got recognition of Mahavidyalaya in 1989.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the 76th foundation day was celebrated in a low-key manner adhering to all norms of COVID-19 protocol. The celebration began with the flag hoisting by noted social worker and president of Seujia Samaj Sangeet Mahavidyalaya Management Committee, Saurav Chaliha, followed by lighting of lamps in front of the portraits of Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha, Atul Sharma, Makhan Bhuyan, Chidananda Goswami, Drunakanta Kalita, Lila Bordoloi and Dakshina Kanta Baruah who shouldered the responsibility of building the foundation of the Mahavidylaya, by Principal Arati Baruah. Students who secured positions in various music-related online competitions were distributed awards in the event.
