Shortage of teachers in Patacharkuchi Vidyapith HS School, Barpeta

PATHSALA: Patacharkuchi Vidyapith HS School, a well known educational institution in the Barpeta district is striving to maintain its past glory with acute shortage of staff. As many as 33 posts including teachers and office staff is lying vacant presently and such condition is adversely affecting the educational atmosphere of the glorious institution. The institution was best known for its quality education and administration in past days for all round development of the students. There were instances where even students with higher percentages of marks were deprived of admission in the institution in past days.

The institution was established in 1935. The anchor role of educationist Harendra Sarma as founder principal of the institution was the landmark development of the entire system. The said institution was upgraded to higher secondary level in 1958. Hareswar Choudhury was the second principal of the school. After that Jogeswar Goswami took strong and remarkable role in the institution as a principal for about 25 years and ensured quality of education.

The students of the school so far were able to bag five positions in HSLC and 26 students were among top position holders in higher secondary science and arts examination. Besides, numbers of teachers were honoured with State and National award for their excellent services. Now with the passage of time the institution is in need of urgent infrastructure development. The condition of class rooms are not up to the mark. It may be mentioned that the condition of the auditorium is very poor and it needs urgent development.
