LAKHIMPUR: Spring festival, Shri Shri Krishna Doul Mahotsav was celebrated in a befitting manner by Shri Shri Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra, the noted Baishnav Peeth of the north-eastern region, located at Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district.

The festival was organized with spiritual fervour with a three-day long agenda from March 27 to March 29. Notably, this festival of colour is stated to have been played by Lord Krishna with ahira (colour) that actually symbolizes the multiple dimensions of the absolute bliss and happiness which can be felt with pure devotion to the Lord.

On March 27, the agenda of the event kick-started with Pratah-Prasanga at 5:30am. It was followed by naam presented by female devotees from 10:00am. Then naam-prasanga and Bhagawat recitation programme was held. In the evening, the Basudev Mahaprabhu was installed on a temporary altar and the traditional 'Mesh-dahan' programme was organized. In the evening from 7:00 pm, presentation of Diha-Nam was organized. The programme was formally inaugurated by academician-writer Devendra Deva Goswami, retired Principal of Jonaki Samahia Ati Higher Secondary School, Majuli.

On March 28, the second day agenda of the festival began with Pratah-Prasanga at 5:30am and it was followed by naam presented by female devotees. After holding the naam-prasanga and Bhagawat recitation programme, the devotees presented the Fakua Geet paying obeisance to the Lord. At night, a bhaona named Borahor Prithivi Uddhar was staged by Sundaram Natya Gosthi of Ghilamora.

On the concluding day of the festival, Pratah-Prasanga, naam-prasanga and Bhagawat recitation programme were organized. The event concluded with the traditional Ghunusa Yatra which commenced from 4:00pm in the presence of thousands of devotees. Abhijit Deva Goswami, the secretary of the Festival Celebration Committee of the Xatra, extended heartfelt thanks to the devotees for their cooperation in organizing the festival successfully.
