Sisu Su-Prasanna Divas observed by Morigaon District Social Welfare Department

MORIGAON: In order to root out malnutrition, anaemia and stunting in children across the country, the Central Government has taken initiative for holistic nourishment of children under the POSHAN Abhiyaan.

To make people aware about the benefits of the scheme in rural and urban areas, the District Social Welfare Department has been organizing some community-based events in the district. On Saturday, the department, supported by Laharight ICDS project, organized the Sisu Su-Prasanna Divas at Laubhurunga. The community-based event commenced with a welcome address by the CDPO of Laharight, Bidyut Hazarika.

Attending as the chief guest, the DO, Social Welfare, Debajit Bora said that the Central Government’s POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched for children in order to drive out malnutrition and anaemia across the country.

So people should come forward to know about how to take care of children as well as pregnant mothers. Hridinayana Dutta, district lead, SBP, DO and CDPO, fed the first rice to newborn babies in the programme.

Also, a drama on pregnant mothers and early childcare was performed by the Anganwadi workers during the programme.
