Sivasagar gears up to observe Kendriya Rabha Divas

GAURISAGAR: Like the past years, this year too Kendriya Rabha Divas will be observed on June 20 at Sivasagar District Library under the aegis of Sanskritic Mahasabha, Sivasagar District Committee, and Kendriya Bishnu Rabha Smriti Divas Udjapan Samiti.

The day-long programme will start with hoisting of flag by Hema Dutta, president of Sanskritic Mahasabha, Sivasagar District Committee, and Premo Gogoi, president of the reception committee. Later Xatradhikar Lakshmi Kanta Mahanta and Joyashree Chaliha, eldest daughter of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, will light the earthen lamp before the portraits of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Thereafter, the open session will be held under the chairmanship of Premo Gogoi. The meeting will be inaugurated by Pratap Chandra Baruah, president of Sanskritic Mahasabha, Assam.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Subramoniyam Ayar Lakshmanan will grace the meeting as chief guest while ThaneswarNeog, secretary of Sanskritic Mahasabha, Asom will participate as guest of honour. A seminar on the topic ‘The relevance of Bishnu Rabha’s ideology in present day context’ will be held. DrSaumarjyoti Mahanta, noted columnist and Principal of Sibsagar Commerce College, will deliver speeches.

In the function, Sanskritic Mahasabha, Asom will confer the Sahitya Saurav Award to Partha Prodip Borah, noted columnist and critic, and the Sangbad Madhukor Award to Joyjyoti Gogoi, journalist, poet,writer and social organizer, for their outstanding contribution in the respective fields.

DEMOW: Under the patronage of Deep Dehing Fan Club and Bamrajabari Business Association, the Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas will be observed in Jananeta Bhimbor Deori Smriti Bhavan, Bamrajabari near Demow on June 20. As per the schedule, the programme will start with cleanliness drive which will be followed by plantation of saplings. The flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, drawing competition and poem recitation competition will be organized on the day. After that a general meeting and felicitation programme will be organized. A cultural programme will be held in the evening.
