Sivasagar Lynching: Woman Arrested on charges of Murder

JOYSAGAR: In connection with the brutal murder of a poor labourer, Duryodhan Newar (54) by a mob near Sholay gaon of Sivasagar on Tuesday night, Sivasagar Police arrested a woman, identified as Rekha Sarker (40), from her house on Wednesday. According to sources, the cow owned by the poor labourer was allegedly stolen by Sanjay Sarker, Rekha’s husband, some days ago.

Duryodhan came to know about the cow theft and also identified the thieves. To stop him from taking action against them, Sanjay, Rekha and some other people allegedly instigated the mob to assault him, accusing him of being a cattle smuggler. Sivasagar Police are investigating the case and are on the lookout for the others involved in the lynching of the poor labourer.
