NAGAON: Due to the negligence of the top officials of PWD state road as well as the alleged slow progress of ongoing construction work of the old NH-37 road, people of Nagaon district are facing a lot of problems. Krishak Sramik Unnayan Parishad recently submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Nagaon, Biswajit Pegu and demanded to postpone the proposed construction work on the old NH-37 road till the winter season. In the memorandum signed by the president and secretary of the district unit of the organization, it was stated that the construction of drainage, as well as construction of road during rainy season, caused inconvenience for the people.

The unit alleged in the memorandum that the contractor of the proposed project had delayed the work and similarly, the departmental officials concerned did not supervise the work. The officials earlier had declared that the construction of drainage on both sides of the old NH-37 would be completed on or before March 31. But the construction work is going on at a snail’s pace. The unit appealed to the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner to stop the entire construction work till winter and to take necessary legal action against the contractor concerned.
