JAMUGURIHAT: The 36th foundation day of Alok, a leading socio-cultural and dramatic organization of the greater Nagsankar area, was observed with a day-long programme on Sunday.
The foundation day began with hoisting of the institutional flag in front of the office building by Putul Bora, former president of Alok, followed by a plantation drive. A total of 36 valuable saplings were planted in various public places of the Nagsankar area. A drawing competition was organized in the historic Nagsankar Temple premises in collaboration with Kala Bithika, a school of fine Arts.
Hitesh Barua, ZPC member, inaugurated the competition wherein a total of 103 students from various educational institutions participated. The competition was held in three categories. The prize distribution ceremony was held with Sarat Kumar Mahanta, former secretary of the organization, in the chair. Mriganki Hazarika bagged the first position, Hiya Saikia came second while Ujjaini Anuradha Bora and Ankur Nath bagged third position jointly in the category A.
Similarly, Anwesha Barmudoi and Swapna Sikha Bora managed to grab the first and second positions while Nilav Mahanta and Jyotishmita Das bagged the third position jointly in category B. In the category C, Disha Bhuyan bagged the first position, while Bhoirabi Bhuyan and Barnali Barua bagged the second position jointly while Darshan Bora was satisfied with the third position. Putul Bora conducted the proceedings while Padmeswar Saikia offered a vote of thanks.
