TEZPUR: Sonitpur district administration held a meeting with various Chathh Puja organizing committees in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Thursday. The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Parag Kakaty, Additional SP Numal Mahatta, all Circle Officers and OCs of various police stations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner informed all present that in view of the prevalent COVID-9 situation and as per latest instructions received from the government, only five people per family will be allowed to perform Puja at the ghats maintaining social distancing and other protocols of COVID-19, only religious rituals will be allowed at the ghats and no mela/ cultural events/ food stalls will be allowed near the puja pandals. Children below five years and elderly people above 65 should remain at home only. The Deputy Commissioner asked the Chathh Puja Committee members to carry out necessary awareness among the people and ensure that these guidelines were strictly followed.

He moreover, directed the authorities concerned to carry out proper sanitization of all puja places including ghats. Other issues such as fire safety measures, deployment of life-guards, medical teams, adequate volunteers and other related issues were also discussed in the meeting.
