South Based Company allegedly dupes people of Rs 2 crore (approx) in Charaideo, Administration seals office

Sonari: In a shocking incident, a South India based Fraud Company allegedly duped people of Sonari for obtaining Luxurious items since the past few months.

As per sources, these alleged fraudulent company had also offered a discount rate of 45% to 50% luring people with attractive offers.

The south-based company namely M/S Sparrow Traders had lured people to obtain various luxurious items and are now being reported to be absconding from the region after collecting an amount of Rs 2 crore approximately.

Various local organizations and activists reacting to the incident are now accusing Charaideo Municipal Corporation for providing trade licenses to such fake companies from outside Assam.

They further blamed the Municipal Corporation’s officials for having a secret understanding with the fake South India based company.

Reports also state that various activists from Sonari had taken up the issue to the social media and also reported the matter to the Charaideo Police administration and Deputy Commissioner’s office, however, "no proper step has been executed by the administration," claimed the public.

Meanwhile, speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Deputy Commissioner, Charaideo, Deepak Kumar Handique said, “We have managed to seal the South India based company today based on the complaints lodged by the public. Our magistrates have visited the place and had sealed the office. We have also restricted people from any kind of transaction activities like donation and investing money on such fake agencies. Many local unemployed youths were targets of such agencies operating from outside Assam. So far no people have been arrested; however, the police is proceeding with their investigation in connection to the matter. We will verify the exact amount which has been invested in this fraud case within the next two working days.”

DC Handiqui had also informed that apart from District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police and Officer-in-charge also visited the place today.
