MANGALDAI: "The Assam Police is committed to ensure a free, fair and a peaceful election in the State. At the same time, the police are also determined not to tolerate any violation of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI). Assam Police will play a very crucial role in ensuring a free, fair and peaceful election," said Special DGP of Assam, Dr. LR Bishnoi while taking part in a specially arranged day-long training and awareness session organized for all the Gazetted Police officers and Officers in-charge of Darrang and Udalguri districts.

The session organized in the conference hall of SP's office at Mangaldai on Thursday was attended by Election Observer (Police)-cum-Inspector General of Police of Nagaland, Jasbir Singh, DIG of BTR, Violet Baruah, Superintendent of Police of Darrang, Amrit Bhuyan and Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, Ripul Das and Second in Command of 136 CRPF, Arvind Bisht. Senior police officials of both the districts, Officers in-charge and in-charges of Darrang districts and Officers in-charge of Udalguri district also attended the session.

Special DGP Dr. LR Bishnoi, taking part in the session, stressed proper implementation of all directions issued by the ECI and directed all police personnel to keep a close watch on the happenings in their respective areas and to keep the senior officers well informed of any suspicious developments. He also emphasized enhanced police-public interaction and inter-district coordination. During the session, the Special DGP Dr. Bishnoi urged all police officials to keep a tab on inflammatory posts with communal overtones in social media platforms and to promptly respond to violation of ECI guidelines with clinical efficiency.

Election Observer (Police)-cum-Inspector General of Police of Nagaland, Jasbir Singh taking part in the session spoke on the ECI guidelines and shared his experiences with all the officers present in the session. The session also reviewed the election preparedness in both the districts. Earlier, Superintendent of Police of Darrang, Amrit Bhuyan in his welcome address gave a detailed action plan in view of the ensuing assembly election.
