SSB jawan Neeraj Chetry cremated with military honours at his birthplace in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: The last rites of SSB personnel Neeraj Chetry were performed with full military honours at his birthplace Karibil Nepali village under Halem Police Station in Biswanath district on Tuesday amidst the tears of local public and his near and dear ones.

Neeraj Chetry, a SSB jawan and son of Tika Bahadur Chetry and Gangamaya Devi, was killed in a Maoist attack in Dumka district in Jharkhand on Sunday. Biswanath district administration, police, SSB personnel and representatives of several social organizations offered floral tribute to the departed soul before the last rites were performed.

Biswanath Additional Deputy Commissioner Diganta Baishya, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roshan, Gohpur Subdivisional Officer (Civil) Narendra Kr Shah and other officials were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, the Assam Government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the deceased’s family.
