State election icon Rakesh Banik visits Kokrajhar and Chirang

KOKRAJHAR: With an aim of generating awareness among the voters of 28-Gossaigaon, 29-Kokrajhar West, 30-Kokrajhar East and 31-Sidli legislative assembly constituency, where assembly election is slated to be held in the third phase on April 6, the lone para-cyclist from Northeast India and State Election icon, RakeshBanik visited Kokrajhar on Friday. He also visited the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Chirang at Kajalgaon on Thursday with the same aims and objectives.

Banik, the para-cyclist and State icon of Assam Election, 2021, created awareness amongst the voters through a cycle rally under SVEEP activities in Kokrajhar on Friday. The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, BhaskarPhukan flagged off the programme at Circuit House, Kokrajhar. He called upon the people to exercise their democratic right to vote in a peaceful manner.

Meanwhile, in Chirang, a meeting chaired by GautamTalukdar, Deputy Commissioner, was held on Thursday which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner RingkhangMashahary, Assistant Commissioners RakhishriLekharu, PratishaDutta, agents of contesting candidates and media persons. Banika said, "In reality, right to vote is one of our main rights. So we should be proud of our voting right." He also appealed to people to come forward and cast their precious votes this time so as to elect the right persons for good governance for the next five years. He said, "I request the people of Assam as well as the public of Chirang district in particular to participate in the electoral process by exercising their democratic rights during the election time in order to establish a healthy government in the State."

In his speech, Deputy Commissioner GautamTalukdar spoke about the importance of voting. He thanked RakeshBanik for visiting the district and for creating awareness among the voters as an icon of the State. During the programme, RakeshBanik was greeted warmly by Chirang Deputy Commissioner GautamTalukdar .
