Steps taken to make temple area plastic-free

GOALPARA: A youth group from in and around Matia, Bakaitary and Moskuri of East Goalpara has taken an initiative to make the Nandeswar Temple near Matia free from plastic pollution. The temple area was earlier filled with empty liquor bottles, gutkha packets and incense stick packets. On Sunday, Bhrigujeet Das, Ratul Kumar Saud, Biraj Kumar Saud along with other local youths gathered at the temple campus and cleaned the large area. After that, they dug up a pit and buried the waste materials. The group has appealed to people not to make the vicinity dirty and to help them clean it every Sunday.
