KOKRAJHAR: Former EM of BTC and official candidate of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) from Baokhungri constituency, Doneswar Goyary has urged the BJP-led State Government to stop playing politics with the general election to BTC and demanded that the government should ensure holding council election before October 28.

As part of a series of agitation programmes, the BPF, along with its three wings, on Friday staged four-hour hunger strike demanding the holding of early election and to stop extension of Governor's Rule in BTC. The hunger strike was observed by every block committee of the party.

The Baokhungri block committee of BPF observed the hunger strike at Children's Park near the DC office. The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) also observed four-hour protest, just opposite the BPF protest site, against massive corruption by BPF leaders in MGNREGA scheme in the last 17 years. Taking part in the hunger strike, former BTC EM of Baokhungri constituency and now BPF candidate for the same constituency, Doneswar Goyary, while talking to media persons, said the general elections in Bihar had been fixed despite the COVID-19 pandemic but the Government of Assam was playing dirty politics over the BTC election. He said the State Government had 'murdered' democracy in BTC as people of the region had not seen any developmental activities in the last six months due to lack of elected government. He demanded that the 4th BTC general election should be held before October 28 and Governor's Rule should not be extended.
