LAKHIMPUR: Like the previous years, Charoiveti, the terminal monthly magazine, regularly published from Lakhimpur, organized 'Sudinar Sankalpa' on the auspicious occasion of completion of its glorious 15 years on New Year.

The unique programme was organized in a befitting manner in the backdrop of the beautiful landscape on the bank of River Ranganadi near the RCC bridge in association with Sabda, an institution of literary practice, with a view to taking resolutions for bringing good days to the State in the upcoming year. Eminent literary figures of the State from Nagaon, Nalbari, Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Bokakhat and Arunachal Pradesh took part in the programme.

The programme was held under the management of the Charoiveti editor Kalyani Chakraborti Gogoi and Sabda secretary Bubul Hazarika. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamps by Charoiveti advisor-cum-former president of Lakhimpur district Xahitya Xabha, Nityananda Senapati and a Borgeet by Chandrama Tamuli Phukan. In the programme, a total of four newly-published books were released. Lily Cheleng, the retired Head of the Department of Assamese, North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), released Manuhar Sandhanat, a collection of articles by Dhaneswar Tamuli Phukan. On the other hand, litterateur Bharat Rajkhowa released Asomiya Bhasar Sahaj Byakaran, a grammar book on Assamese language, authored by Aruna Tamuli Phukan. Prominent literary figure of Arunachal Pradesh, Ajanta released Ankurito Houk Seujia Beej, a collection of poetry by Chanda Kanta Borah while chief editor of Charoiveti, Dr. Jagadish Goswami released Charair Bahor Pora, a collection of poetry by child poet Ikhtiyar Hussain.

In the same programme, the Charoiveti House accorded warm felicitation to three noted personalities for their contribution to the society and humanity through their field of work. These figures were Shishu Bandhu Dulal Borah, prominent theatre personality, cultural activist Nazim Ahmed, and literary critic Dr. Pallabi Deka Bujarbaruah, the Professor of Assamese in Dibrugarh University. Charoiveti feted them with a citation, safura, gamosa, seleng sador, bundle of books and other mementos.

After being felicitated, Dulal Borah, who has been awarded Shishu Bandhu title by Axam Xahitya Xabha, said, "We have to do a lot for the betterment of the children of our State. The expected society cannot be built unless a necessary environment for the mental and intellectual development of children is created. In order to propel their progress, the adequate amount of children literature and the number of writers who write for children are also awfully less in the State."

On the other hand, Nazim Ahmed laid stress on heralding a cultural revolution in the State in order to strengthen the bond of harmony and integration and to lead the State towards progress in the upcoming year.

Dr Pallabi Deka Bujarbaruah said that the State was burdened with an unhealthy environment created by narrow political ideology. She also emphasized heralding a cultural revolution and rise in the economic activities in the State to lead it on the path of progress in the true sense in the upcoming year.

Over 20 poets who assembled in the programme from different parts of the State, like Tafiqur Raman, Atiqur Rahman, Liladhar Pathak and Jayanta Deka, recited self-composed poems. Radio artiste Mira Begum and galaxy of vocal artistes presented songs while a host of artistes presented dance item. In the programme, resolutions were taken to fight against all adversities.
