Strict vigil in Lakhimpur on persons coming from other States

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration and the District Health Services Department have kept strict vigil on the persons coming back home from other States from their work places. In this regard, the district administration and the Health Services Department have already collected information through gaon burhas and ASHA workers about the persons who are still outside the State and about persons who have already come back to the district.

As per report from the district administration, a total of 592 persons coming back from other States are under home quarantine. There is strong possibility of increase in this figure. A total of 237 such persons, 131 under Dhakuakhana Health Block and 106 under Ghilamora Health Block, have been kept under home quarantine in Dhakuakhana subdivision.

The Health Department already conducted medical screening of 685 flight passengers and 1,264 railway passengers till March 21. No screening at airport and railway station was conducted on Sunday and Monday as flight and passenger trains did not operate during the two days.

On the other hand, in view of worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 and as precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the district, a 24-hour control room was constituted with the executive magistrates, officers and staff located at North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle campus of the district. The executive magistrates will be the overall in-charge of the control room during the duty period and they will ensure the proper and timely action on the information received in the control room. All magistrates will keep close liaison with the circle officers, police and Joint Director of Health Services and keep informing the DC about the developments.

On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Dr. Jeevan B called upon the people of the district not to panic regarding the pandemic and during the lockdown period. He appealed to all to fight against the pandemic with united effort. He informed that the guidelines of the lockdown as served by the State Government would be strictly ensured in the district for the greater interest of the people.
