Sub Inspector of Police killed in a road accident in Udalguri district

MANGALDAI: A Sub Inspector of Police has been killed in a tragic road accident on NH 15 in the early hours on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sub Inspector (Armed Branch) of Udalguri district Subodh Mishra. The driver of the vehicle Sanjay Chouhan has been shifted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital. He is in a critical condition. The accident took place near the Banglagarh weekly market-4 km to the west from here. As reported, the ill fated Sub Inspector was proceeding from Udalguri towards Rangiya in a hired Tata sumo vehicle bearing registration number AS O1 BR 2906 to escort the stranded persons coming from the other states. The driver while driving the vehicle in a somnolent mood, as he had spent a sleepless night on the previous night, suddenly lost control over the vehicle and directly hit on an LPG cylinder loaded truck bearing registration number AS 13 A 1318 coming from the opposite direction. The front portion of the Tata Sumo has severely been damaged causing the instant death of the Sub Inspector. The body of the deceased Sub Inspector was brought to Mangaldai Police Station for performance of the post mortem examination and has been sent to his home in Bihar.
