Golaghat: Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra flagged off the Swachchta Rath recently as part of the Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen 2018 which is being held all over the country from August 1–30. The rath is aimed to spread awareness about the Swachh Sarvekshan, a rural cleanliness programme under the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation which will rank all districts of the country on the basis of sanitation (Swachhata) parameters.

Golaghat district administration ceremoniously launched the Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen 2018 on July 24. The ranking will be based on parameters such as data from Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin IMIS, district-level surveys of public places like schools, Anganwadis, PHCs, haat bazaars, Panchayat and citizen’s perception of Swachhata. Top-ranking states and districts will be awarded on October 2. The survey will be carried out from August 1-30. Addl Deputy Commissioner Dhiraj Das, Executive Engineer, PHE, Monoranjan Saikia, Debojit Chakraborty, Biswajit Gogoi, Swachhta Prerak Pratiksha Rai and other officials and staff from PHE department were present during the flag off ceremony.
