GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevailed at Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district after unidentified miscreants stole three donation boxes with around Rs 10,000 cash from Gaurisagar Hanuman Mandir situated near Gaurisagar Police Station on Monday night.

Based on CCTV footage, Officer in-charge of Gaurisagar PS, Dibyajyoti Morang said that two unidentified miscreants entered the temple wearing face masks and looted three donation boxes. On Tuesday, the empty donation boxes were recovered from a drain of the ongoing four-lane construction works in front of Gaurisagar weekly market. The Mandir Parichalana Samiti has lodged an FIR in this regard. A case no 91/2020 under IPC 380 has been registered and police investigation is on.
